Children, cadets from a Russian police school, joined a member of the Duma to sing an ode to Uncle Vova which was reported across the West.

The name Vova, according to disinformation experts at EU STRATCOM, is short for Vladimir.

The disturbing lyrics are loaded with known Russian State disinformation narratives and make open reference to the Kremlin’s hybrid war across the West.

In traditionally taunting Russian style, there is nothing hidden. No punches pulled.

The song comes as Russia and President Putin face elections.

In Sochi, Uncle Vova told all Russian industry to prepare for war

manufacturing.

The lyrics specifically troll the EU as “having no opinion of its own”, an apparent direct reference to the success of Russia’s disinformation warfare, and also refers to their triumph in the US, saying: “across the ocean, the president is deprived of power.”

A clear warning of what may come next, even as the world is still struggling with the chaotic aftermath of Russia’s assault on democracies, is set out for all to see.

The second verse says: “if the commander-in chief calls on us for the final battle, Uncle Vova, we are with you.”

The last verse ends with: “we will return Alaska to the haven of the motherland.”

But a song is not the only indicator a final battle may be coming down the line.

Speaking in Sochi, Uncle Vova told all Russian industry to prepare for war

manufacturing.

Uncle Vova, we’re with you

The twenty-first century has come; the earth is tired from wars,
The people of the earth are tired of hegemony,
The European Union has no opinion of its own, the Middle East groans from troubles,
And across the ocean, the president is deprived of power.

Chorus:

And to us from the seas in the north, and far away to the southern borders
From the Kuril Islands, to the Baltic coasts,
If only there would be peace. But if the commander-in chief
Calls on us for the final battle, Uncle Vova, we are with you.

And what will my generation get?
If we show weakness, we will lose the whole country,
And our loyal friends are our Navy and our Army,
A memory of our grandfather’s friendship is the red star.

Chorus…

We won’t let the samurai take even the smallest piece of our land,
We will stand up and protect the capital of amber*,
We will save our Sevastopol and Crimea, for the sake of our descendants.
And we will return Alaska to the haven of the motherland.

Chorus…

* “The capital of amber” is a reference to the city of Kaliningrad

During a conference in Sochi on the 22nd of November 2017, Putin is reported by the Independent as telling the gathered audience of industry and military leaders: “The ability of our economy to increase military production and services at a given time is one of the most important aspects of military security.”

“To this end, all strategic, and simply large-scale enterprise should be ready, regardless of ownership,” he added.

Having previously outlined his military ambitions for AI, the speech came one day after Putin reaffirmed his strategy to outstrip West with new military technology.

“Our army and navy need to have the very best equipment — better than foreign equivalents…If we want to win, we have to be better,” Putin said, according to AFP.

Russia is currently committing over 3% of its official GDP to this end.

The Kremlin has just told the West a final battle

is on the horizon.

if the commander-in chief calls on us for the final battle, Uncle Vova, we are with you.”
